Diocesan Youth Summer Camp
The annual Diocesan Youth Summer Camp will be held at Camp Hanover near Richmond, Virginia,
Sunday, July 15 - Saturday, July 21, 2012.
Our camp offers young people of the diocese a week of fun and learning, during which we teach the Bible, Church traditions, the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal 1940.
We live by the Golden Rule in a rustic, although not primitive camp setting. Nourishing meals are served family style in the dining lodge. Playtime activities include hiking, crafts, icon painting, and more. Each day begins with Morning Prayer, and ends with Evening Prayer.
Our mornings will have successive lessons in our theme for the year. The afternoons are full of fun, including fishing, swimming,
"The Wall", and an adventure course for the senior campers. The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Campers range from 8 years old till 15 (as of May 31, 2012 - exceptions may be
made on a case by case basis). Those former campers who havecompleted their senior year in high school are eligible to be Junior Counselors, We average 35 campers of all ages, with a maximum of
50.
The cost for the week at camp is $275 and applications (downloadable
